Printable Disney Planner: Tips for Adults

Planning a Disney vacation is a lot of work. There are so many details to note and remember and it can be overwhelming. Sure, you can keep the information on your cell phone. But this didn’t always work for me. Sometimes my phone overheated in the parks or I couldn’t read my screen because of the sun’s glare that day.  I began to wish I had something I could pick up and read — when I was talking with a Disney guest services rep and needed to pull up my reservation confirmation number, for example.

So, I created a low-tech Disney Planner. I wanted it to be affordable, easy to use, small and lightweight, so I could put in my purse or park bag. But I also wanted it to include all the information I needed to have at my fingertips, like my hotel room confirmation numbers and flight arrangements.

I decided I wanted it to fit into a mini photo album, the 4″ x 6″ size they sell at Dollar Tree for $1.25. I had used them before for other projects.  Now, all I needed was to create the pages to fit inside the Planner.

Well, it became quite a project.  I created a Google Docs document and formatted the document so that the text fits in the photo album. It prints on 8-1/2″ x  11″ paper, of course. But after I print out the pages, I cut them so they fit in the Planner.

Something that I add to my Planner — that  you may choose to do — are the very cool graphics some people create and post on Pinterest and Facebook.  WDW Prep School and Moms with Mouse Ears are two creators who make great graphics, for example. I haven’t included those in the public, for free version I am sharing with you because those graphics are not my work product. But if you would like diagrams that show the routes for the Skyliner and other Disney World systems, you can find those on Pinterest.

To add these kinds of graphics to your planner, download the image and insert or copy it into a Google Doc (or Word).  Next, in Google Docs, click on Edit and scroll down to Page Set Up. Set the margins for your document to 2.75″ top and bottom and 2.15″ left and right. Print the page and trim it to fit into your 4″ x 6″ Disney Planner.

I have taken my Disney Planner on three trips to Disney World so far and I just love it. I feel organized and ready to enjoy my vacation. Do you want to try it? Just print the pages that you want. You can customize them, too, on Google Docs. Change the font, make it bigger, add your own notes. So your trip is as unique as you are :)

Here is what I call the “Starter Pack.” It’s 36 pages of tips and hints, plus a fun cover for summer. When you go to this link, click “copy” and it will make your own file in your Google Docs account that you can customize, as you wish. It is completely free to use; no strings attached. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1G4owxqeRG4Tms7ZNLisXqVWBwVRLy90jMrM3w2flXGc/copy

A big advantage of the Google Docs document is that I update it and correct it often. That link will update the information automatically.

But if you don’t want to fool around with Google Docs and you want the pages just like I wrote them today, well, here is a PDF of the Starter Pack that you can download and print. Then, just trim the pages, put them into the photo album and voila! You have your own Disney Planner!

I’ll be adding more Planner pages on this blog — sample itineraries, guides for festivals, tips for staying comfortable, fun cover images and more.

Look for those in upcoming posts. The next one coming up is for Fourth of July! With a fun Fourth of July cover!

I hope you like your Planner. Let me know your thoughts…
