Are you planning to visit Fort Wilderness to see the horses or Halloween decorated-campsites (or both) this fall? Of course, you are, because this the year to go! As I mentioned in my last two articles, free activities at Fort Wilderness are the perfect complement to a vacation of going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival.
While you are there (because you are going, right?), you might also want to catch a free, outdoor movie! All Disney World Resorts offer outdoor movies. But there is no place better at Disney World to watch a “Movie Under the Stars” than Fort Wilderness: it offers seating, a campfire and refreshments for sale. And immaculate vibes!
Last year, Fort Wilderness showed Halloween movies on a schedule (they also show lots of non-Halloween movies). If the schedule continues, these movies will be aired in 2026:
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (alternating Sundays): September 6, 13, 20, 27 and October 4, 11, 18 and 25.
- Hocus Pocus (alternating Mondays): September 7, 14, 21, 29 and October 5, 12, 19 and 26.
The outdoor screen is set up at the Meadow Recreation Area Outdoor Theater so you will want to take the internal bus shuttle (or walk) to the Meadow Trading Post. After you see the Halloween campsites!
The evening starts with a campfire and marshmallow roast (7:30 pm), followed by a sing-a-long and visit from Chip and Dale at 8 pm. The movie starts at 8:40 pm nightly. Bring a fluffy blanket! And money for the food truck!
Fun, right? But, seriously, that Lake Shore Lodge is going up fast. Who knows what changes 2027 will bring to Fort Wilderness? Read my other articles and download my free, printable itinerary to make your plans today.
